Monica Vazquez, 39, Enjoyed Basketball and Dancing
Monica Ann Vazquez 39 (nee Cruz) of Lorain died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 in New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.She was born July 10, 1966 in Lorain, She was a life long resident.
She graduated in 1983 from Southview High School, South Lorain.
Mrs. Vazquez worked until August 2005 at the Ohio Assembly Plant, Avon. She worked there for 13 years.
She was a member of Saint Ladislaus Catholic Church and attended Sacred Heart Chapel both in Lorain. She was also a member of the Mexican American Citizens Club, Mexican Mutual Society, Polish American Citizens Club, Russo-Slav Club and Knights of Saint John all of Lorain and the United Auto Workers Local 2000, Avon. Mrs. Vazquez volunteered at Neighborhood House and Second Harvest Food Bank.
She enjoyed basketball, darts, pool and bowling. She loved to dance and socialize with family and friends. She liked to go charter bus trips to the Cleveland Browns and Indians ball games and attending concerts, especially Santana.
Among the survivors is her husband of five years Enoch Vazquez; sons Albert Montanez, Jr. and Paul Montanez both of Lorain, daughters Amanda Rivera (nee Montanez of Lorain and Amelia Robinson (nee Montanez) of Florida; her mother Rebecca Delgado of Lorain; brothers Frank Cruz, Jr., and Randy Cruz both of Lorain sisters Justine Cruz, Debbie Rodriguez and Melissa Gachupin-Anzurez all of Lorain and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank Cruz, Sr. and her sister Mitzi A. Rodriguez in 2004 and a grandson.
Friends may call Monday, September 5, 2005, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral services will be Tuesday with closing prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, East 29th Street and Wood Avenue, South Lorain. With the Reverend Father James Schmitz, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
