Glenna E. Slattery, 80, Slattery Motion Pictures Owner

Glenna E. Slattery (nee Hadsell) 80 formerly of Lorain died in her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico September 1, 2005 following a lengthy illness.

She was born September 9, 1924 in Erie, Pennsylvania and came to Lorain County as a child. She Lived in Lorain for 77 years before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mrs. Slattery along with her late husband Frank owned and operated for 35 years Slattery Motion Pictures in Lorain. The Slattery family shot game films for nearly 40 schools and colleges. Also commercial, industrial and governmental films and duplication. During World War II she worked at the National Tube Company, Lorain.

She was a member of Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Lorain. She studied art al Lorain County Community College - watercolors, oils and acrylics. She also created ceramics, sketched scenery and fashions. She was a trained vocalist and was known as "The Songbird" by the seniors she performed for in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had a kind heart, always helping others and was liked by everyone.

Among the survivors are her sons Dennis Slattery of Nova and Gregg Slattery of Lorain, daughter Debi Erin of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Frank M. Slattery in 1996; her parents Ellsworth and Olive (nee Disney) Hadsell; a twin brother Glenn Hadsell and a sister Roma Douglas.

Friends may call Thursday, September 8, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. Services will be Friday with closing prayers at 9:30 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria Township. Reverend Father James Ols Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain Ohio.
