Veronica Solak, 90, Active in Church; Worked at Clearview High
Veronica Solak (nee Caco), 90, of Sheffield Township died Sunday September 4, 2005 at Specialty Hospital in Lorain.She was born April 14, 1915 in Sheffield Township and had been a lifelong Sheffield Township resident.
Veronica worked at Clearview High School in the cafeteria for 29 years retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where she was active in the church helping with parish functions such as chicken paprikas dinners and serving as a lector during mass. She was a member of the church Altar & Rosary Society in which she was past president, National Slovak Society Branch #160 and the AARP. She enjoyed helping others and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Novotny of Elyria, sons: Thomas Solak of Elyria, Daniel Solak of Vermilion and Lawrence Solak of Oberlin, 21 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and sisters Anna Szalay, Pauline Sackett, Agnes Brezina and Dorothy Zimmerman, all of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Solak in 1977, sons Ted Solak in 1981 and James Solak in 2004, parents John and Helen Caco (nee Tomko), sisters Helen Korp and Cecelia Horomanski and brothers John Casco and William Caco.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 6, 2005 from 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Wednesday at 3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
