Candelaria Ybarra, 70, Loved Playing Bingo

Candelaria Ybarra (nee Flores) 70, of Lorain died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at her home peacefully, following a lengthy illness.

She was born October 26, 1934 in Lorain where she has lived all her life.

Mrs. Ybarra worked at Lorain Community Hospital in the 70's as a Nurse Assistant before going to St. John Westshore Hospital where she worked as an Orthopedic Technician for over 10 years and then retired. She also worked for The Board of Education as a poll booth worker for elections and at the former San Antonio Restaurant on East 28th Street, owned by her father when she was a little girl growing up.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, Sociedad de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, Open Heart Club, Mexican Mutual Society, Mexican American Citizens Club, Ladies of American G.I. Forum and The Ladies Auxiliary of Lorain.

Candelaria loved playing bingo, taking care of her grandchildren, crocheting, cooking and making her homemade Tamales for which she was well-known for.

Among the survivors are her Daughters: Rosita Palacios of Cleveland, Maria Guadalupe Monaco and Nolan (Lourdes) Meeuwsen of Oregon, Timothy (Sara) Callahan, Gabriela De-Hernandez and Juan (Angelina) Ybarra-Barrios of Texas and Rita Ybarra of Lorain. Sons: Roberto Palacios of Chicago and Esequiel Palacios of Lorain; 29 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren Stepdaughters: Gene (Anna) Leibas, Jose (Gloria) Diaz, Joe (Esther) Leibas, Joe (Cookie) Villarreal and Carol Ybarra all of Lorain. Hector (Hope) Perez of Arizona and Mike (Linda) Reyes of California. Stepsons: Henry Ybarra and Theodore (Shorty) Ybarra of Lorain and Emilio Jr. (Rocco) Ybarra of Louisiana. Sisters: Roberto (Carmen) Arroyo, Ivan (Dolores) Lorenzana, Esperanza (Hope) Rodriguez and Virginia Moon all of Lorain and Cayetano (Maria) Lugo of California. Brothers: Antonio, Jose, and Francisco Flores all of Lorain; 26 Steo Grandchildren and 26 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Emilio Ybarra in 1984, Mother, Vester May in 1971, Father, Candelario Flores in 1989, an infant daughter in 1953, an infant son in 1970, a granddaughter Graciela Palacios in 1976, Brother, Alberto(Spook)in 1973 and Sister, Gloria Dennis in 2000.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 14, 2005, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. Friends May also call Thursday 8:00 AM until time of Mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, South Lorain. Reverend, Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
