Patricia A. Amato, 60, Durling School Librarian
Patricia A. Amato, (nee Wech) age 60, of Lorain, died Tuesday September 20, 2005 in the intensive care unit of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - Lorain - following a brief illness.Ms. Amato was born August 15, 1945 in Lackawana, New York and had been a resident of Lorain County since 1976. She was a graduate of Lackawana High School.
In 1988 she joined the Clearview School System and was currently serving as a librarian at the district’s Durling Elementary School. She was highly regarded by her colleagues and always exhibited special pride in her students and their accomplishments both inside and outside of the classroom.
Pat was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain and was a regular participant in the Monday evening bowling leagues at Rebman’s Recreation as a member of the Gutter Busters.
Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren, reading with a special passion for mystery novels, and needlepoint. Additional interests included cooking and baking with one of her favorite projects being seasonal cookies.
She is survived by her sons Angelo Amato of Lorain and Vincent C. Amato of North Olmsted, along with three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy (nee Kirchmeyr) Wech.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township.
