Gerald D. ''Jerry'' Myers, 75, Ford Benefits Representative

Gerald D. “Jerry” Myers, 75, of Lorain, died Sunday October 2, 2005 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a sudden illness while recovering from hip surgery.

He was born June 21, 1930 in East Huntington, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since 1952.

Jerry served with the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He received the German Occupation Medal.

Jerry worked at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant as a repair man and then as the UAW Local #425 Benefits Representative retiring in 1995. He was a member of UAW Local #425 and served on the retirees committee. He was an avid bowler and was past president of the Ford Bowling League at Rebman Recreation. He enjoyed nature, feeding the birds and squirrels and rose gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carole (nee Porostovsky), daughter Arleen Price of Sheffield Lake, son Keith Myers of Amherst, daughter Denise Rial of Franklin, Pennsylvania, son Dale Myers of Lorain and daughter Janice Poplar of Westlake, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents George & Sarah Myers (nee Baird), brothers Kenneth Myers, Robert Myers & Thola Myers and sister Martha Felgar.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 5, 2005, from 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 will conduct military honors.
