Alvina A. Paskvan, 90, St. John Altar & Rosary Society Member

Alvina A. Paskvan (nee Barney), 90, of Lorain, died Monday October 3, 2005 in the emergency room at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born May 9, 1915 in Elyria and had resided in Lorain since 1939.

Alvina was a graduate of Elyria High School in 1933.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Altar & Rosary Society. For many years she worked at the church bingo nights.

Alvina enjoyed reading, playing cards (especially pinochle), cooking and baking (especially apple pie).

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Paskvan of Lorain, son Phillip J. Paskvan of Perrysburg, Ohio, grandsons Phillip M. Paskvan of Toledo and Kevin Paskvan of Galloway, granddaughter Elizabeth Paskvan of Perrysburg, great grandsons Gregory Paskvan and Justin Paskvan and great granddaughter Jillian Paskvan. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Paskvan in 1979, parents John & Susan Barney (nee Kislan), brothers John Barney, Jr., Mike Barney and George Barney and sisters Marie Stack and Ann Krok.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 6, 2005, from 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. John Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Thursday at 4:15 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Drive Lorain. The Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
