Christina M. Liauw, 77, Registered Nurse & Concert Pianist
Christina M. Liauw (nee Tek Nio Lim), 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Toledo Monday October 3, 2005.She was born July 11, 1928 in Jakarta, Indonesia and had immigrated to Lorain, Ohio in 1970 when her husband accepted a position at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain as a pathologist.
Mrs. Liauw was a nurse and concert pianist before they were married in 1957. In Lorain she was active in PTU at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain where they were longtime parishoners. She was also active in the Medical Auxiliary and volunteered at the St. Joseph Hospital Gift Shop. Best of all she was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by her children Lica Liauw with whom she made her home in Toledo, Andy (Kate) Liauw of Avon Lake and Rai Liauw, grandchildren Andie, Emmie & Maddie, brothers Tjeng (Hiang) Lim of London, England and Tony (Mei Ling) Lim in Jankarta, Indonesia. She was preceded in death by her husband Yan S. Liauw, M.D. in January of 2001.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 7, 2005, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral mass at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon. The Rev. Thomas Cleaton, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
