Paulina Carrion, 89, Member of Curcillo at Sacred Heart Chapel
Paulina Carrion (nee Martinez) age 89, of Lorain, died Tuesday October 18, 2005 at the Specialty Hospital of Lorain following an illness of six weeks.Mrs. Carrion was born January 12, 1916 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico and had been a resident of Lorain since 1956.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain where she was an active member of the Curcillo as well as the Altar & Rosary Society.
Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, and flower gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons: Jose E. Carrion and Benny Carrion both of Lorain, Ray Carrion of Staunton, Illinois, daughters Lucy Carrion and Margie Mendez both of Lorain, Maria E. Shivey of Elyria, Terri Maccarone of Valejo, California, Tomasita Oquendo of Puerto Rico, and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos in 2004, by a daughter Carmen D. Maldonado, by her parents Calixto and Antolina (nee Lopez) Martinez, by brothers Justo, Juan, Marciano, and Francisco, along with sisters Roberta Garcia, Francisca Rodriguez, and Marciana Montanez.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Closing prayers will be offered Friday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel 4301 Pearl Avenue Lorain. The Reverend William Thaden, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
