Elsie V. Edmond, 82, Loved to Garden
Elsie V. Edmond (nee Bodkins), 82, of Lorain, died Friday October 21, 2005 at her home after a long illness.She was born August 21, 1923 in Norton, West Virginia and had resided in Lorain since 1952.
Prior to her marriage Elsie worked in a sewing factory in Elkins, West Virginia and as a welder in a shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland.
She loved to garden, enjoyed flowers and organize family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years William Merl Edmond, daughters Nancy Marie Smith of Ijanisville, Maryland and Penny Lou Davila of Lorain, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, brothers Leslie Herbert Bodkins of Elkins, West Virginia, Lapel Clark Bodkins of Valley Head, West Virginia, Aubrey Jackson Bodkins of Oberlin and Harvey Joe Bodkins of Amherst and sisters Gladys Columbus White of Lorain, Anna Leen Shifflett of Elkins, West Virginia, Roseleen Teter of Montrose, West Virginia and Cecila Kesel Mullins of Baltimore, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Anna Lee Blessing, parents Herbert & Pearl Bodkins (nee Hoover), sisters Pally LaVon Goodwin and Monnie Lee Bodkins and brothers Forrest Francis Bodkins, Harry Joe Bodkins and Donnie Lee Bodkins.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 24, 2005, from 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM. The Rev. Brian Kenyon, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Oberlin, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
