James R. Veninchak, 54, Served Aboard U.S.S. Ranger

James R. Veninchak, age 54, of Lorain, died Wednesday October 26, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following an illness of six weeks. Mr. Veninchak was born October 11, 1951 in Lorain and attended Saint Stanislaus Parochial School. He was a 1969 graduate of Admiral King High School and went on to receive his Associates Degree in Electronics from Valparaiso Technical Institute.

Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran who fulfilled duty assignments as an Electronics Communication Technician aboard the U.S.S. Ranger during the Viet Nam Conflict.

He was most recently employed as a service engineer for the Environmental Growth Chambers Corporation. Previously he had served in the same capacity ofr Burroughs-Unisys.

He was a parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church as well as a life member of Amvets Post # 47 of Lorain. His hobbies included bowling, gardening, and cooking on the outdoor grill.

Survivors include his mother Cecilia "Ceil" Veninchak (nee Bober), two uncles, one aunt, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Stephen in 1979 along with an infant sister Kathleen Ann Veninchak.

Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2005 from 4 to 7 p.m in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway Avenue in Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of funeral mass at 9:30 a.m.in Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church - 2702 Elyria Avenue - Lorain. The Reverend Richard J. Bober, pastor of Saint Felicitas Catholic Church in Euclid and Reverend Mr. William Schill, permanent deacon at St. Stanislaus Church will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where military honors will be conducted by officers and members of Mullen-Murray Post # 451 of the VFW and American Legion Post # 30.
