Peter J. Koler, Jr., 58, U.S. Steel Retiree
Peter J. Koler, Jr., age 58, of Lorain, died Tuesday November 1, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness.Mr. Koler was born on August 4, 1947 in Weston, West Virginia and had been a resident of Lorain since 1948.
He attended Saint John Parochial School in Lorain and went on to graduate from Admiral King High School. One day afetr his high school commencement he joined the Lorain-Cuyahoga Works of the United States Steel Coporation and embarked on a career with the steel producer that spanned thirty-two years. He retired in 1997.
He was a member of United Steelworkers Local # 1104 as well as the Lorain Romanian Club. He was an active participant in bowling leagues hosted by Rebman's Recreation as well as the Lorain Croatian Club. In his free time he enjoyed watching movies with a special interest in those dealing with science fiction.
He is survived by daughters Ann Cliff of Chicago and Christine Koler of Lorain, sons Anthony and Daniel Koler both of Lorain, Aron Hogue of Elyria, his mother Mary (Carpino) Koler of Lorain, brothers Russell and Mark Koler of Lorain and sister Kathy Harris also of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father Peter J. Koler, Sr. and a sister Barbara Koler.
Friends may call Friday, November 4, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway Avenue - Lorain. Reverend Mr. Robert Dybo, permanent deacon assigned to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin mary Catholic Church will officiate.
