Mykola ''Nick'' Trypniak, 82, US Steel Retiree
Mykola "Nick" Trypniak 82 of Lorain died Sunday, November 5, 2005 in his home following a lengthy illness.He was born November 30, 1922 in Novosilky, Ukraine. He came to Lorain in 1954. He was a Lorain resident for 51 years.
Mr. Trypniak retired in 1983 as a loader in the pipe mills shipping department at United States Steel, Lorain. He worked there for 30 years.
He was a member of Saint Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Lorain, where he was a member of the church's choir and was a financial secretary of the church board of directors. He was also served on the executive board of the Ukrainian National Home, Lorain. He was also a member of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Lorain, Ukrainian National Association in New Jersey and the United Steel Workers of America Local 1104, Lorain. Mr. Trypniak helped many other Ukraine build their homes. He enjoyed gardening.
Among the survivors are his wife of 58 years Dora Trypniak (nee Soroka) of Lorain, son Ihor "Trip" Trypniak of Lorain and daughter Olga Trypniak of Bay Village.
He was preceded in death by his parents Michajlo and Ana (nee Winarsky), brother Michajlo Trypniak and a sister Ludwica Chilinsky.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 9, 2005, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. A Parastas service will be 7:30 PM Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by 10:00 AM service in Saint Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, East 34th Street and Gary Ave in Lorain. Rev. Vasil Shtelen pastor of Saint Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, will officiate.
