Jimmie Douglas Savett, Sr., 76, Served U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Jimmie Douglas Savett, Sr., age 76, of Lorain, died Saturday November 12, 2005 at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following an extended illness.Mr. Savett was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 8, 1929 and had been a resident of Lorain for the past nine years coming from North Olmsted.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a cook from 1948 to 1952. For twenty-seven years he was employed as a deck hand with the United States Army Corps of Engineers retiring in 1990. He enjoyed listening to country music and taking trips to the mountains.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years Josephine Betty (nee Pennington), a son Jimmie D. Savett, Jr. residing in Toledo, a daughter Linda Thebeau also of Toledo, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Nola (nee McNally) Savett, by a brother Herman Savett, and by a sister Nadine LaSalle.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 16, 2005 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Evangelist Bob Eddy of the Church of Christ of Lorain will officiate. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Road Rittman, Ohio.
