Irene M. Marinik, 77, Worked For Lorain Products & Lorain City Schools

Photo of Irene M. Marinik Irene M. Marinik (nee Laitman), age 77 of Berea, and former long-time Lorain resident, died Friday November 18, 2005 at her residence following a brief illness.

Mrs. Marinik was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 7, 1928 and had been a resident of Berea for the past several months coming from Strongsville.

She was a graduate of Saint Procop Catholic High School in Cleveland and lived the majority of her life in Lorain. She was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter and had most recently been employed as an assembler at the Lorain Products Corporation. She retired from the manufacturer in 1993. She had previously been employed by the Lorain City School System as a cafeteria worker.

Irene’s interests included playing cards and bingo as well as spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons: David J. Marinik of Albany, New York, Robert J. Marinik of Chicago, Illinois, Richard D. Marinik of East Liverpool, Ohio, and James A. Marinik of Sanford, Michigan, daughter Kathleen Scheerer of Berea, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, brother Joseph Laitman of North Royalton, and sister Mildred Maruna of Brunswick, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Aloysius “Al” Marinik in 1976, by her father Joseph Laitman in 1993, and her mother Julia (nee Knazek) Laitman in 1974.


Friends may call Sunday, November 20, 2005 and Monday, November 21, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue – Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter – 3501 Oberlin Avenue – Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Lorain.
