Lena M. Schroeder, 94, Care-Giver
Lena M. Schroeder (nee: Seeley), 94 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 at Autumn Ages Nursing home in Lorain.She was born April 11, 1911 in Spencer, Ohio. She was raised in Wellington and graduated from Elyria High School. Lorain County has been a lifetime home. She has been a resident of Lorain for the past eight years.
Prior to her marriage, she held a skilled position at the American Lace Company in Elyria. Later she began her care-giving role by attending to the needs of the infirmed in their homes. She also provided long term companionship and help to Ada Gates Stevens who occupied the imposing mansion on Elyria’s East Ave. which now houses the Elyria Women’s Club. Her commitment to helping others included being a longtime volunteer at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria. Lena was a member of First Baptist Church and Church of the Open Door, both in Elyria.
Survivors include her daughter Barbara Leuszler of Amherst; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her brother Glenn J. Seeley of Westlake; and her sister Geraldine Seeley of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Schroeder in 1976; by her sister June Seeley Fox; and by her parents Glenn and Leona Seeley (nee: Ensign).
Services were held privately by the family with burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. Rev. Robert Schroyer, associate pastor of Church of the Open Dorr in Elyria officiated.
