Jean "Gina" Williams, 85, Worked in Defense Factories during WW II

Jean “Gina” Williams (nee: Persello), 85 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain from breast cancer since 1991.

She was born November 20, 1920 in Udine, Italy and came to the United States 1922 through Ellis Island, New York. She graduated from Alliance High School in Ohio with the class of 1938. She has been a resident of Lorain since 1948.

During World War II, she worked in defense factories, Lockheed and Kaiser Shipyard in California. After moving to Lorain, Jean was employed at General Motors in Elyria for more than 30 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed traveling, Big Band music, dancing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, flowers, plants, and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her brothers Ned Persello of Alliance, Ohio and Frank Persello of Piedmont, Ohio; her sister Alice Bostwick of Beloit, Ohio; her stepdaughter Susan Irwin of Hicksville, Ohio; her stepsons Tom Williams of South Amherst and Ted Williams of Lorain; eight step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and one step great great grandson; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of eighteen years, Tony Trombitas in 1957; by her second husband of thirty-three years Stan Williams in 2004; by her parents Bruno and Maria Persello (nee:Pellis); and by her brothers Tony and Mark Persello.

Services will be held privately by the family with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alliance, Ohio.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Ann Catholic Church; c/o B. Williams; 408 Annis Rd., South Amherst 44001.
