Alice M. Eddington, 81, Elyria Memorial Hospital Retiree
Alice M. Eddington (nee Emmerich), age 81, of Amherst, and formerly of Lorain, died Tuesday November 22, 2005 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past two years.Born September 17, 1924 in South Amherst, she had been a resident of Lorain for the past 27 years, prior to moving to Amherst Manor.
Alice retired in 1986 from the Dietary Services Department of Elyria Memorial Hospital after 7 years of service. She had previously been employed as a private housekeeper.
Mrs. Eddington was a former member of St. John United Church of Christ in Lorain. She was an avid lover of word puzzles.
Mrs. Eddington is survived by her caregiver, Mrs. Bettie Hardwick of Lorain, brother Ernest Emmerich of Huron and sisters Margaret McClouth of Tyler, Texas and Elizabeth Emmerich of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, in June of 1996, brothers Edward Emmerich and August Emmerich and sister Ruth Cox.
Friends may call Friday from Noon until time of services at 1:00 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway Avenue - Lorain. The Reverend Philip Kunz, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
