Sandra Skorvanik, 62, President of the Lorain Senior Center
Sandra "Jeannie" Skorvanik, 62 of Lorain, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 in University Hospitals of Cleveland after a lengthy illness.She was born October 19, 1943 in Lorain and has been a life long Lorain resident.
She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain. She was president of the Lorain Senior Center where she volunteered during Bingo. She enjoyed traveling to different casinos, especially Las Vegas where she played Bingo and the slot machines. Mrs. Skorvanik had a passion for helping people in need and visiting her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years Clarence Skorvanik; son, Mark A. Skorvanik of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Paula J. VanNostrand of Timberville, Virginia, and Peggy L. Skorvanik of Columbus; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Richard Martino of Avon Lake, and Bob Martino of Columbus; and sister, Jan Aaron of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Martino.
Friends may call Friday, November 25, 2005 from 5-7 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Monday November 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
