Franklin Frederick Warrer, Jr., 72, Served in the US Navy

Franklin Frederick Warrer, Jr., 72 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.

He was born April 10, 1933 in Sandusky, Ohio. He was raised and lived in Lorain for most of his life and graduated from Lorain High School. Amherst has been his home for the last seven years.

Franklin served in the US Navy. He was employed at the Avon Lake BF Goodrich plant for thirty-seven years retiring in 1997 from the maintenance department. During the late 1960’s, he coached in the Lorain Hot Stove League for many years and during the 1970’s, he was active in the Admiral King Booster’s Club. He attended Church of the Open Door in Elyria and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of four years, Joan Conley; his daughters Dawn Drusky of Rocky River, Ohio, Patricia de la Cruz of Melbourne, Florida, Jill Mihalik of Avon, and Kathy Younkin of Lorain; two stepsons; three stepdaughters, twelve grandchildren; his sisters Janice Murrell of Lorain and Shirley Ceja of Yorba Linda, California; and his half brother Charles Warrer.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Warrer; by his parents Franklin Frederick, Sr. and Jessie May Warrer (nee: Bliss); and by his sister Dorothy Warrer.

Friends may call Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 30, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society; 43099 North Ridge Rd., Elyria 44035 or the Ireland Cancer Center at Community Health Partners; 41201 Schadden Rd., Elyria 44035.
