Ernest E. Kovarik, 70, US Army Veteran

Ernest E. Kovarik, 70, of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 at his home after a 6 year illness.

He was born February 6, 1935 in Bradley, Ohio. He has lived in Vermilion since 1967, moving from Lorain.

He was a veteran of the US Army.

He worked as an assembler relief man for Ford Motor Lorain. He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, the Knights of Columbus, and AMVETS Post 22, Vermilion. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Alma (nee Antoline) Kovarik; his mother, Margaret (nee Kinyo) Kovarik; daughter, Deborah Johnson of Akron; son, Mark Kovarik of Vermilion; 5 Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Marian Parteli of Smithfield and Joyce Rensi of Smithfield, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his father Joseph Kovarik in 1974.

Friends may call Sunday, December 4, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military services at 7:30 p.m.

Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Jim Holmer will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
