Louis J. Pogorelc Jr., 71, Enjoyed Woodworking

He was born November 23, 1934 in Lorain and has been a life long Lorain resident.
He graduated from Lorain High School and served in the US Navy for 2 years. He then entered the Naval Reserves where he was active in the Naval Reserve Drum & Bugle Corps.
He worked as a machine operator for American Crucible Products Co. for 40 years retiring in 1992. He had also worked part time for Lorain Precision Metal Products.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lorain. He was active in Lorain Slovenian Home Club. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, cooking, polka music, playing cards, and watching sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Maloney of Avon, son, Lou Pogorelc III of Avon, 5 grandchildren , sister, Gerry Sifter of Elyria and several nieces and nephews .
Preceding him in death were his wife, Nancy (nee Dovala) Pogorelc in 2004, parents, Louis and Rose (nee Kurowski) Pogorelc , and sister, Lillian Mercurio.
Friends may call Sunday December 4, 2005 from 5-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Services will be held Monday Dec. 5, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church E. 33rd St. and Pearl Avenue, Lorain with Reverend Laurie Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery where the American Legion Post #30 and VFW Post #451 will conduct military graveside honors.
