Bill J. Hall, 56, Vietnam War Veteran

Photo of Bill J. Hall Bill J. Hall, 56, of Sheffield Township, died Tuesday December 6, 2005 at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born October 14, 1949 in Pikeville, Kentucky and had resided in Sheffield Township for the past 18 years.

Bill served with the US Army during the Vietnam War with the field artillery unit. After the war he continued his military career with the Army serving at various bases around the world before retiring as a First Sergeant after 21 years. While stationed in New Mexico he attended the University of New Mexico and earned an Associate’s Degree in Psychology.

He worked at Marconi Communications in Lorain in shipping and receiving for the past 12 years.

Bill enjoyed bowling and his dog Taco. He was a member of VFW Post #451 and AMVETS Post #47, both of Lorain.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Alma Hall, stepdaughters: Diana Scribner of Salem, New Hampshire and Stephnie Henrikson of Gardenersville, Nevada, 4 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, sister Mary Mitchell of Amherst, brothers Ray Conn and Charles L. Hall, both of Lorain, sisters Norma McKinney of Harold, Kentucky, Ava Wedgeworth of Lorain, Flossie Weinbrandt of Lorain, Margaret Haynie of Abbeyville, Mississippi, Lydia Conn of Stanville, Kentucky, Virgie Gmerek of Columbus and Phyllis Akers of Harold, Kentucky, brother James Hall of Lorain, sister Betty Stevens of Harold, Kentucky and brothers Earl Hall of Ivel, Kentucky and Eric Hightower of Harold, Kentucky and many niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie & Lillian Bertha Hall.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 9, 2005 from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 AM. The Rev. Jay Roller, pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township with military honors conducted by VFW #451 & American Legion #30 of Lorain.
