Anastasia ''Stacy'' Blasko, 79, Church Organist

Anastasia “Stacy” Blasko, (nee Sedlak) age 79, of both Lorain, Ohio and Palm Harbor, Florida, died Friday, December 09, 2005 at the Willowbrook Christian Village in Deleware, Ohio following an extended illness.

Mrs. Blasko was born on January 8, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio and had been a resident of Lorain since 1949.

Stacy was employed for many years as a stenographer and secretary for the Railway Express Company in Youngstown. She was a parishioner of Saint Vitus Croatian Catholic Church of Lorain where she served as the church organist for more than fifty years; she was also a member of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain. She had formerly been a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where she had also served as parish organist and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society.

Mrs. Blasko was active in a number of fraternal organizations including Saint Ann Lodge Branch #114 of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union and Wreath #111 of the Slovak Catholic Sokols.

Her interests included crocheting and square dancing; she was a member of the Square Dancing Club of Saint Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain.

Survivors include sons Michael A. Blasko of North Royalton, John of Deleware, Ohio, and Jerome S. of Palm Harbor, Florida, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchild, and sisters Mary Sikora and Eleanor Hnat both of Youngstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael “Mickey” Blasko in June of 2003, and by her parents John and Anna (nee Hurajt) Sedlak and by a brother John Sedlak in 2003.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2005 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where a parish rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. assisted by officers and members of Saint Ann’s Lodge and the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Vitus Catholic Church, 1793 East 32nd Street, Lorain. The Reverend Simon Nekie, pastor of the parish will officiate. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. in Saint John Cemetery, Campbell, Ohio.

The family encourages memorials in her name to the hospice program of the donor’s choice.
