Earl F. Weekley, 74, USS Ladle Technician

Earl F. Weekley, age 74, of Lorain, died Friday December 9, 2005 at EMH Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Weekley was born on October 17, 1931 in Jordan, West Virginia and had been a resident of Lorain since 1952.

He joined the National Tube Company in 1952 and served its successor companies - United States Steel Corporation and USS/Kobe Corporation as a ladle technician in the Open Heart Division and B.O.P. Shop. He retired from the steel producer in 1994 after a career that spanned forty-two years.

Earl was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1104 and of the Amherst Chapter of the Tops Club. His hobbies included fishing and auto repair.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years Zettie (nee Proffit), daughters Patricia Kelly of Lorain and Joyce Pratt of Elyria, sons Earl Ray Weekley and Terry Allen Weekley both of Lorain, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Raymond Junior Weekley of Terra Alta, West Virginia and a sister Betty McKinley residing in Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Glenna (nee Rhoden) Weekley and by a brother Roy Weekley in 1989.

Visitation will be Monday from noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway – Lorain. The Reverend Dr. Linwood H. Chamberlain, Jr., co-pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens – Avon.
