Minter Davidson, 77, Former Lorain County Bank Assistant Vice President
Minter Davidson, 77 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Wade Park VA Hospital in Cleveland following a lengthy illness.He was born July 5, 1928 in Kanawha Head, West Virginia where he was raised and lived until age seventeen when he moved to the Amherst and South Amherst area.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the Ohio University School of Banking and went on to work for the Oberlin Saving Bank. He then was employed by the former Lorain County Bank, now FirstMerit Bank, for over thirty years retiring in 1993 as the Assistant Vice President. He was a member of the South Amherst sanctuary of the Congregational Church where he served as Deacon. He was a past member of the South Amherst American Legion Post #197 and the Amherst Rotary Club. He enjoyed hunting, camping and golfing.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Maida R. Davidson (nee: Skidmore); his son Rodney Davidson of South Amherst; his daughter Pamela Bolyard of Milan, Ohio and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Alice Davidson (nee: Bennett); by his brothers Virgil Davidson, Hartzel Davidson and Andrew Davidson; and by his sisters Edith Rexroad, Ivy Siron, Joy Rexroad and Madge Roaby.
Friends may call Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will be held Monday, December 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Arthur Wiegand, pastor of South Amherst Sanctuary of the Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Louis Stokes D.V.A.; Atten Voluntary Services 135(B); 10000 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141 and mark the donation for the Brecksville Nursing Home.
