Thomas Owen Cobb, 76, Served Parker Hannifin's European Division

Thomas Owen Cobb, age 76, of Lorain, died Friday December 30, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Cobb was born in Miami, Florida on September 14, 1929 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1979 coming from Las Vegas, Nevada.

A veteran of the United States Navy, he joined the Parker-Hannifin Corporation in 1979 as a specialist in the sales and marketing department of the firm’s European Division. He had previously been employed as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Agrinautics Corporation of Las Vegas. He had also formerly served the Piper Aircraft Corporation of Vero Beach, Florida as a project engineer on their Pawnee Agricultural Aircraft Project.

Aviation was an integral part of his life; he received his pilot’s license at the age of fourteen and owned several small fixed wing aircraft throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Aircraft Owner’s and Pilot’s Association of America as well as a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks in Vero Beach. Mr. Cobb’s hobbies included airplanes, nature, and world travel with France being regarded as one of his favorite destinations.

Survivors include daughters Terrie Cobb Deerfield of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Debra Cobb Hansen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Candace Schwab of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Leslie Larson of Aquadulce, California son Thomas “Ty” Cobb of Sebastian, Florida, step-son Dennis Tanner of Wellington, twenty-one grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lee Monique Cobb (nee Tanner) on December 8th of 2005, and by his parents Machsa and Leona (nee Gibson) Cobb.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, January 4th at 3:30 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway – Lorain. Elder David Schwab will officiate.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army – 2506 Broadway Avenue – Lorain, OH 44052.
