Earl Kay Calhoun, 57, Auto Technician
Earl Kay Calhoun, 57 of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at his home in Vermilion after a lengthy illness.He was born March 21, 1948 in Clintwood, Virginia, and had been a Vermilion resident the past 20 years moving from Norwalk.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served two tours in Viet Nam.
He worked as a auto technician for L & M Towing in Vermilion. He was a life member of AMVETS Post 22 Vermilion, and the American Legion Post 397, Vermilion. He was a race car driver for late model and super sport cars (#15) in Mansfield and Sandusky. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry work and NASCAR.
Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Calhoun, Bellevue and Ronald J. Calhoun, Vermilion; 3 grandchildren; a sister, Janice Case, Vermilion; half sister, Tracie Savina, Norwalk; half brother, Rory Calhoun, Norwalk, Steve Calhoun, Wakeman and Tom Calhoun, Columbus; beloved partner, Marianne Gnagy; father, Joseph Calhoun, Norwalk and mother Lillian (nee Puckett) Holstead, Vermilion; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct evening military services at 7 p.m.
Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. Matt Humphrey, Life Celebrant, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
