Lora Mae Kindrick, 82, Enjoyed Family Picnics and Quilting
Lora Mae Kindrick (nee: Phillips), 82 years of age, formerly of Elyria, and a resident of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst following a sudden illness.She was born April 22, 1923 in Wayne Co., Kentucky where she was raised and lived until 1949. Lora was a resident of South Amherst for twenty-five years, then moving to Elyria for ten years. Ashland, Ohio has been her home for the past year.
Lora was a homemaker who enjoyed family picnics and quilting. She shared her joy of quilting with her family members by making quilts for all of them, making hundreds in her lifetime. She was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst.
Survivors include her sons Harold Kendrick and Jackie Kindrick, both of Elyria, and Stanley Kindrick of Ashland; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; her brother Ellis Phillips of Indiana; and her sister Hazel Jones of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years Robert Franklin Kindrick on January 1, 1995; by her infant daughter Ella Pearl in 1949; by her parents Rev. Sam Phillips and Mertie Phillips (nee: Kidd); by her stepmother Nancy Phillips; and by her eighteen brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
