Marjorie F. Smith, 83, Homemaker
Marjorie F. Smith (nee: Greene), 83 years of age, and a resident of Wellington, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Elms Retirement Village in Wellington following a short illness.She was born October 22, 1922 in Brighton, Ohio. A lifelong resident of Lorain County, she lived in Amherst from 1965-2001 when she moved to Wellington.
She was a member of Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Isley’s Wellington Dairy Bar, at the Wellington and K-D Lanes in Oberlin, and cleaned the office of Dr. Walter Wagner, Amherst. She enjoyed roller skating, feeding Humming Birds, flower gardening, and especially she enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her some Michael Mike Pleska of Wellington and Royle Rick of Wakeman; her daughter Frances Hunkley of Medina; her stepsons Rudy Smith of McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, Gene Smith and Ralph Smith, Jr. both of Cleveland, and Pat Smith of Texas; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; her brothers Roy Greene, Jr. of Brighton and Kenneth Greene of Arizona; and her sister Vivian Simonson of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband of eight years Ralph N. smith on March 17, 1973; by her parents Roy, Sr. and Olive Greene (nee: Ewell); and by her brother Walford Greene.
Friends may call Friday, January 13, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio 44001. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Atilla Szemesi, pastor of Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
