Dorothy B. Haponek, 74, Cafeteria Worker at Admiral King High School

She was born January 16, 1931 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. She was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Dorothy worked for Lorain city schools as a cafeteria worker mainly at Admiral King High School.
She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain where she volunteered her time with the parish festival helping to prepare and sell food. Dorothy volunteered with the former St. Joseph Hospice in Lorain, was a member of the Marwins Club in Lorain and St. Ann Lodge #114. She enjoyed bowling and participated in leagues at Rebman Recreation.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Emil Haponek, sons: David Haponek of Vermilion, Robert Haponek of Lorain and Douglas Haponek of Hartland, Michigan, daughter Susan Lucas of Cochran, Georgia, 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brothers Edward Reber and Richard Reber and sister Mary Ann Thompson, all of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Anna Reber (nee Smetana) and a brother in infancy.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 15, 2006 from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where St. Ann Lodge #114 will recite the rosary Sunday at 2:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Chuck Henkle, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
