George H. Fazekas, 76, Korean War Veteran

Photo of George H. Fazekas George H. Fazekas, 76, of Lorain, died Friday January 13, 2006 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

He was born December 6, 1929 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. George served as a second lieutenant with the US Army during the Korean War. He attended Miami (Ohio) University for 2 years.

George worked as a carpenter for various builders throughout the area and then for Carpenter’s Local Union before retiring.

He is survived by his daughters: Christian LaLumia of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, Rnay Gorski of Troy, Michigan, Cincere Fazekas of Pompano Beach, Florida and Vercel Coubrough of Cooper City, Florida; sons Thais Fazekas of DeKalb, Illinois and Kuyer Fazekas of Grafton, 12 grandchildren, sister Clara Padgett of Sheffield Village, brother William Fazekas of Lorain and sister Arlene Bari of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew & Helen Fazekas (nee Toth) and brothers Andrew Fazekas, Ernest Fazekas and Alexander Fazekas.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 16, 2005 from 2-5 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Paul Hoffman, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Cleveland, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
