Louis Honecy, Jr., 95, Baker and Pastry Chef

Louis Honecy, Jr, 95 of Lorain passed away Monday evening, January 16, 2006 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness.

Mr. Honecy was born in Cambridge, Ohio on April 6, 1910 and has lived in Lorain since 1938. He was a baker and pastry chef. He was the owner and operator of the former Gene's Pastry Shop in Elyria from 1956 through 1967. He then went to work for the Fisher-Fazio Supermarket as a baker and retired in 1977.

He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, OH. and was the head usher for many years. He was an avid gardener; taking great pride in his yard. He enjoyed hunting, also. Mr. Honecy decorated the wedding cakes for his daughters and grandchildren except one because of his declining health.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (nee Mucha) Honecy to whom he was married on June 18, 1938, daughters: Janet Mitchell of Akron, Ohio, Judy Marshall of Cortland, Ohio, Jeanne Mowrey of Urbana, Ohio, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a sister: Katherine Honecy of Parma, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Julia ( nee Cherny) Honecy and a sister Julia Casper.

Friends may call on Friday, January 20, 2006 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 PM. at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 21, 2006 in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 W. Sixth Street, Lorain, OH, at 11:00 AM. Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, OH.
