Mary E. "Mickey" Horan, 82, Enjoyed Knitting and Boating

Mary E. "Mickey" Horan (nee Ralph), 82, of Vermilion, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at her daughter's home after a lengthy illness.

She was born February 21, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio. She vacationed in Vermilion and made it her permanent residence in 1971, moving from Lakewood.

She was a secretary for Vermilion Schools spending most of her time at South Street School. She retired in 2000, after 25 years, but continued to substitute after retiring.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. She was a social member of the AMVETS Post #22, American Legion Post # 397; VFW Post #7576 and the Huron Eagles Club. She enjoyed knitting, traveling to the Great Lakes Islands by boat with her family and spending time with her granddaughter.

She is survived by a daughter, Patti Liljegren of Vermilion, a son, R.J. Horan of Vermilion and a granddaughter, Sarah Horan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Horan, Sr. on November 12, 2000; parents, William and Lillian (nee Doyle) Ralph; 4 brothers, Wilbur, Joseph, Vincent and Thomas Ralph, and 2 sisters Patricia "Patty" Ralph and Mercedes Scofield.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 2-6 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5:30 pm.

Prayers will said at the funeral home on Monday, January 23, 2006 at 10 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Reverend Jim Holmer and Reverend Phil Feltman, will co-officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
