Bradley Ray Whitten, 40, Director of Information Technology
Bradley Ray Whitten, 40 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at Cleveland Clinic following a seven-month illness.He was born November 25, 1965 in Amherst. A graduate of Marion L. Steele High School, he was a lifetime resident of Amherst.
He attended Akron University. Bradley was employed as the Directory of Information Technology at KS and Associates in Elyria for thirteen years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst; the Amherst American Legion Post #118; the Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1162; and the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1442. He enjoyed playing drums, guitar, writing music, cards and tinkering with computers.
Survivors include his wife of nine years Debra Marie Whitten (nee: Beko); his sons Alexander Whitten and Cameron Whitten, both at home; his daughter Madison Whitten at home; his mother Marilyn Ann Whitten (nee: Miller) of Elyria; and his step daughter Kaitlyn Robinson of Berea.
He was preceded in death by his father Bobby Gene Whitten in 1995.
Friends may call Monday, January 23, 2006 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Warner, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Birmingham Cemetery, Birmingham.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst 44001.
