Frances Louise Wantuck, 92, Enjoyed Flower and Vegetable Gardening
Frances Louise Wantuck (nee: Gavel), 92 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Home following a two-month illness.She was born December 18, 1913 in Mineville, New York where she lived prior to moving to Elba, New York as an elementary student. Amherst has been her home for the last forty-seven years.
Frances was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and the Holy Name Society. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, cooking and canning.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years Woodrow W. Wantuck; her sons James W. Wantuck of Parma Heights and Ronald R. Wantuck of Ann Arbor, Michigan; her daughters Jeanette Clotz and Diane F. Taylor, both of Amherst; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; her brothers Frank Gavel of Alexander, New York and Paul Gavel of Clinton, Maryland; and her sisters Ann Karas of Attica, New York and Nellie Coughlin of Byron, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Peter and Ann Louise Gavel (nee: Yancy); by her brothers Joseph and John Gavel; and by her sisters Mary Markwica and Helen Karas.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. form the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Warner, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
