Shirley Mae Dades, 68, Pete's Pet Store Owner

Shirley Mae Dades (nee: Kinnison), 68 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Cleveland Clinic.

She was born October 20, 1937 in Athens, Ohio where she was raised. She came to Lorain at age 18 with her husband, moved to Florida in 1961 and had been a resident of Amherst since 1995.

She owned and operated Pete’s Pet Store. Shirley loved nature and animals, especially birds, and demonstrated that love by working with animal rescue and volunteering her time at State Parks as a campground host. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst where she served as choir director, Boys Basketball Ball sponsor and volunteering her time as needed.

Survivors include her husband of forty-nine years Peter Edward Dades, Sr.; her sons Keith Rogers of Berea, Kentucky and Peter E. Dades, Jr. of Amherst; her daughters Patricia Market of Daytona Beach Florida and Linda Antonelli of Gray, Tennessee and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Ruth Kinnison (nee: Brooks); and by her brother Paul Kinnison.

Services are being held privately by the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001.

Arrangements are being handled by the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Street, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
