Theodore E. ''Bandit'' Sexstella, 78, Enjoyed Playing Chess
Theodore E. Sexstella "Bandit", 78 of Lorain, died Friday, February 10, 2006 in Specialty Hospital of Lorain after a lengthy illness.He was born December 22, 1927 in Lorain and has been a life long resident of Lorain.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving with the 25th Base Service Squadron, 7th Bombardment Group. As a sergeant stationed in England, he served during the Berlin Air Lift. He was a cryptographic writer.
He worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Ford Motor Company, Lorain for 32 years retiring in 1990. He had served his apprenticeship at US Steel prior to starting at Ford.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain and attended Christ United Methodist Church. He was a member of United Polish Club in Lorain, Polish Legion of American Veterans, Polish American Citizens Club, and the UAW # 425. He enjoyed playing chess, was a top bowler in Lorain’s various leagues and enjoyed attending the various festivals with his wife, making trips to Amish Country and traveling to Myrtle Beach and Ireland.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joan Sexstella, sons, Theodore J. Sexstella of Westlake, and Charles S. Sexstella of Avon; daughters, Patty McDonald of Dublin, and Cheryl Sexstella-Wright of Lorain; 4 grandsons; 3 great-grandchildren; and brothers, John and Walter Sexstella both of Lorain, OH.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Augustine and Mary (nee Jakubowski) Sexstella , son, Dennis Sexstella; and brothers: Frank and Joseph Sexstella.
Friends may call Monday, February 13, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home Tuesday February 14, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, Tuesday, February 14, 2006. Father Robert Glepko, pastor, will officiate and Pastor Matthew Darrin of Christ United Methodist Church will participate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain where the VFW post #451 and American Legion post # 30 will conduct military honors.
