Edna Mae Cavanaugh, 87, Enjoyed Stainglass Work

Edna Mae Cavanaugh (nee: Long), 87 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, February 20, 2006 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 22, 1918 in Lorain where she was raised. Amherst has been her home since 1955.

As a young woman, she worked as a waitress and cook until her marriage. She enjoyed working at Cavanaugh Glass, her son’s studio, doing stainglass work. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, flower gardening and German Shepherd dogs.

Survivors include her sons Mark R. Cavanaugh, Jr. of Amherst and Dennis E. Cavanaugh of LaGrange; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Mark Romain Cavanaugh, Sr., on June 15, 1998; by her son Kenneth Cavanaugh in infancy; by her parents Albert and Otilla Long (nee: Rauser); by her brothers Edward and Albert Long; and by her sisters Fredricka Cimino and Ruth DoBrunz.

Services and burial were held privately by the family. A reception for friends will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church; 6th Street and Washington Avenue in Lorain at 12 Noon.
