Mary T. Kurish, 90, Housekeeper @ St. Stanislaus Catholic Church
Mary T. Kurish, 90, of Sheffield Lake, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Home in Vermilion after a short illness.
She was born December 6, 1915 in Ellsworth, Pennsylvania, was raised in Lorain and had resided in the Sheffield Lake and Lorain areas most of her life.
Mary served as the housekeeper for the Rev. Leo Rygwalski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain for 40 years before retiring.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake.
Mary was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed attending church functions and activities, roller skating and cooking.
She is survived by her sister Ann Marie Woltman of Canton, brother Andrew Kurish of Amherst, many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Helen Kurish (nee Malarik), sisters Rose Pandy and Sofia Szymanel, twin sisters Ann Kurish and Helen Kurish and brother Leo Kurish.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 19, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held in the funeral chapel Monday at 9:30 AM followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain.. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
