Harold ''Buster'' Allsop Jr., 79, Project Engineer

He was born April 24, 1926 in South Amherst where he graduated from South Amherst High School in the class of 1944. He has been a lifetime resident of South Amherst.

He served in the Army Air Corp. during World War II. He has worked at the Cleveland Quarries in South Amherst, then the former Western Automatic, now the Moen Corporation in Elyria, and lastly he was employed by Ridge Tool Co. in Elyria for twenty-eight years retiring as a project engineer. Harold was a member of South Amherst American Legion Post #197 for sixty-two years, the South Amherst Rotary Club where he was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow, and served on the South Amherst School Board from 1953 to 1957 and from 1971 to 1975. He was also a member of the South Amherst First United Methodist Church since childhood.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years Jean Allsop (nee: Mathes); his sons Richard Allsop of South Amherst and Bill Allsop of Vermilion; his daughter Joanne Allsop of Columbus; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his brother John “Jack” Allsop, DDS of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Sophia “Pete” Allsop (nee: Aebersold).

Friends may call Friday, March 24, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard performing honors will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Gary Lunsford, pastor of South Amherst First Untied Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
