Steve J. Pirnachk, 83, US Steel Retiree

He was born February 21, 1923 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Steve graduated from Lorain High School in 1941 and then served with the US Marine Corps during World War II as a corporal. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, the Mariana Islands and Okinawa, Japan.

Steve worked as a millwright at US Steel in the 2 Seamless Mill in Lorain for 33 years retiring in 1980.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lorain, VFW Post #451 of Lorain and the Black River Historical Society. He enjoyed attended auction sales, refinishing furniture and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Mary Ann Pirnack (nee Vozar), daughters Margaret Pirnack of Lorain, Barbara Lavely of Huntington Township and Patricia Pirnack of Lorain, brother David Pirnack of Littleton, Colorado and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Nicholas Pirnack, mother Barbara Pirnack (nee Wallach), stepmother Katherine Pirnack (nee Kuzela) and sister Helen Drozdowski.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 26, 2006, from 4-7 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where the St. John Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Sunday at 4:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. The Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
