Michael E. Tomshack, Sr., 68, Main Street Soda Grill Co-owner
Michael E. Tomshack, Sr., 68 of Vermilion, died unexpectedly from a ruptured aneurysm, Saturday, April 8, 2006 in Community Health Partners, Lorain..He was born August 10, 1937 in Battle Creek, MI he was a Vermilion resident for the past 30 years, moving to the area from Sheffield Lake.
Mr. Tomshack was the Eastern Regional Sales Manager for Sara Lee Corp. and retired in 1996 after 17 years of service. He was co-owner of Main Street Soda Grill in Vermilion, and was working as the Marketing Director for HealthQuest, Vermilion, Avon, North Olmsted and Brunswick.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, where he had held several church offices, volunteered countless hours for many years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4539 and Holy Name Society. As a proud 23 year member of AA, he enjoyed reading, traveling, history, cooking, watching sports, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sharon Tomshack (nee MacAuley), 2 sons: Michael Tomshack, Jr. of Vermilion, and Christopher Tomshack D.C. of Vermilion; 3 Daughters: Elizabeth Ballou of Vermilion, Amy DeFilippo of Amherst, and Margaret Austin of Vermilion, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother, Peter Tomshack of Evart, MI; and 2 sisters: Susan Cantu of MI, and Christina Jordan of Sarasota, FL.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John E. and Mary (nee Van Riper) Tomshack , 2 grandchildren: Amber Miller in 1975 and Mary Ann DeFilippo in 1986 and sister Sheila Xenos.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 11, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where the Knights of Columbsu will say the Rosary at 8:30 p.m..
Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church 731 Exchange St. Vermilion. The Reverend Phil Feltman will officiate. Internment will follow at Maple Grave Cemetery.
