Peter Scasny, 91, US Steel Retiree
Peter Scasny, 91, of Lorain, died Saturday April 8, 2006 at Lorain Manor Nursing Home after a short illness.He was born June 29, 1914 in Bellaire, Ohio and had resided in Lorain most of his life.
Peter was a graduate of Clearview High School and served with the US Army during World War II. He worked at US Steel as a truck driver before retiring.
Peter was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church in Lorain and St. John/Holy Trinity Lodge #228.
He is survived by his sister Amelia Kertesz of Lorain, nieces Marie Crofoot, Amber Bentley and Marilyn Bartek, all of Lorain and his companion of 50 years Mary Ludwig of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Jarolin & Julia Scasny (nee Proday), sister Ann Hronec and niece Michele Kertesz.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 9:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 10:00 AM at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Simon Nekic, pastor of St. Vitus Catholic Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
