Thomas E. Simms, 58, Invacare Retiree
Thomas E. Simms, 58, of Lorain, died Monday April 10, 2006 at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake after suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was born August 28, 1947 in Amherst and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Thomas worked at Invacare in Elyria as a tool & die maker for 23 years retiring in 2006. He enjoyed woodworking, computers, ham radio and spending time with this grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Alice Simms of Lorain, daughters: Danette Windisch of Fort Worth, Texas and Janelle Simms of Avon, stepsons: Ernest Underwood of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Robert Underwood of Spencer, Indiana, stepdaughter Lisa Mishak of Keller, Texas, brother Ernie Simms of Brownsville, Pennsylvania and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John & Margaret Simms and brothers Dennis Simms and William Simms in infancy.
The family will receive friends Thursday 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Robert Schroyer of Church of the Open Door in Elyria will officiate. Cremation will follow.
