S. Ray Lilly, 66, Supervisor
S. Ray Lilly, 66 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006 at his home following a lengthy illness.He was born June 13, 1939 in Flat Top, West Virginia where he was raised. Lorain has been his home for the last forty-three years.
He served seven years in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. Ray was employed at the Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Corp. for 35 � years retiring in 1999 as a supervisor in Quality Control Department. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #451 in Lorain. He was an avid golfer. He was very proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed old classic cars, gardening, yard work, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years Carolyn J. Lilly (nee: Richert); his son Kenneth R. Lilly of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; his daughters Kimberly A. Obbey of Amherst and Kristen L. Holland of Hilliard, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and his brothers Hershel Lilly of Tampa, FL, Paul Lilly of Lorain, and James E. Lilly of Sheffield.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Ora Lily (nee: Harvey); by his brothers Arlis Lilly and Bob Lilly and by his sister Helen Ramsey.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 19, 2006 from 3-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services with the Lorain American Legion Post #30 and VFW Post #451 Military Honor Guard will be held Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of ST. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
