Freda Haggerty, 85, St. Vincent de Paul Parishioner
Freda Haggerty, (nee Kayser), age 85, of Elyria Township, died Monday April 17, 2006 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following an extended illness.Mrs. Haggerty was born in Woburn, Massachusetts and had been a resident of Elyria Township for the past twenty-nine years coming from Lorain.
She was formerly employed as a cycle checker for the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Corporation.
Freda was a parishioner of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society there. She served as a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at the former Saint Joseph Hospital for twenty-five years and was also a member of the National Council of Catholic Women and active with the Lorain County Pro Life Movement.
Her hobbies included travel and reading with a special interest in history.
Survivors include her son Paul of Avon, Ohio, daughters Joanne Jones and Janet Haggerty both of Lorain, Patricia Crowe of Buffalo, New York, eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Haggerty, Sr. in 1991, by her son John Haggerty, Jr. in 1986, by her parents Frederick and Pauline (nee Penashik) Kayser, and by sisters Helen Gizitskey in 1986 and Clara Collins in 1983.
Friends are asked to gather Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at 11:00 for the celebration of her funeral mass at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 41295 North Ridge Road Elyria Township. The Reverend Gaetano Menegatto will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
