Jack William White, 74, Employed for United Food Commercial Workers Union Local #880
Jack William White, 74 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Community Health Partners H & S Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.He was born June 9, 1931 in Cleveland where he was raised and lived until moving to Lorain in 1975. Amherst has been his home since 2004.
He was employed for United Food Commercial Workers Union Local #880, retiring in 1987 as a business agent. He also did photography for his union and weddings. Jack was involved with Boy Scouts and served as a Little League coach and umpire during his sons’ formative years. While attending Church of the Open Door in Elyria, he assisted in the audio and sound system area. He was most recently a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst where he was active with Evangelism Explosion. He enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands.
Survivors include his wife of thirteen years Lucille Eleanor Washko White (nee: Bisesi); his sons John White of Diamond, OH and Mark White of Lorain; his stepsons Peter Washko of South Euclid, James Washko of Independence, OH and Michael Washko of California; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters Betty Fisher of Mentor, OH, Lois Knight of North Eaton, OH, Edythe Fisher of Millersburg, OH, Phyllis Spirhanzl of Cleveland, and Virginia Eiben of Strongsville, as well has many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step-daughter Pamela Washko-Lew in 2005; by his parents William and Gertrude White (nee: Krumroy); by his sister Barbara Johnson in 2006; and by his brother Allen White in 2004.
Friends may call Thursday, April 20, 2006, from 3-5 p.m. and Friday, April 21, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Faith Baptist Church; 440 North Lake St., Amherst. The Rev. Michael Plog, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
