Charles "Buck" E. Hribal, 82, US Army Veteran

He was born March 11, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania where he was raised and lived till he moved to Elyria in 1950. He has been a resident of South Amherst since 1958.

He served with the US Army during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater where he received the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Battle of Normandy, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, The Bronze Star, and the World Ward II Victory Medal.

He was employed at Ridge Tool in Elyria for thirty-one years, retiring in 1986 as a foreman. He also served as a volunteer fireman in South Amherst for twenty-two years, retiring as a Lieutenant and was on the Board of the South Amherst Water Department. He was a life member of the Mt. Pleasant VFW and a member of the South Amherst American Legion Post # 197. He loved sports, especially Pittsburgh Steelers football, fishing, cards, horse racing; and was a partial owner of a Pacer Horse where was raced at Northfield Park.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Louise Ann Hribal (nee: Fada), sons Dave Hribal of Amherst and Ron Hribal of Birmingham; daughter Linda Farrell of Elyria; four grandchildren; and his brother Richard Hribal of Mt. Pleasant, Penn.

He was preceded in death by his twin children Patricia and Kevin in infancy; by his parents Charles E. Hribal, Sr., and Anna Hribal (nee Uhrin); and by his brothers Edward, William, and Phillip Hribal.

Friends may call Monday, May 8, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard performing honors will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. Denis St.Marie, pastor of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
