Pompilia Santiago, 82, Enjoyed Family Gatherings

Pompilia Santiago (nee De La Cruz) 82 of Lorain died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in Amherst Manor Nursing Home, Amherst following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 2, 1923 in Guayama, Puerto Rico. She was a Lorain resident for over 53 years, coming her in 1953.

Mrs. Santiago retired from the Dietary Department of Community Health Partners, Hospital in 1989. She worked there for 23 years.

She was a member of Christo Rey Hispanic Pentecostal Church, Lorain. She loved to read her Bible. Mrs. Santiago enjoyed visiting the sick, cooking, family gatherings and her grandchildren.

Among the survivors are her husband of 60 years Julio Santiago, Sr. of Lorain; son Julio Santiago, Jr. of Lorain; daughter Elizabeth Colon-Santiago of Harker Heights, Texas; sister Ines De La Cruz of Lorain and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Carmen (nee Rivera) De La Cruz; brothers Jimmy and Angel De La Cruz and an infant sister.

Friends may call Friday, May 19, 2006, 4:00 to 8:00 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 20, 2006 in the funeral home. Burial will follow Ridge Hill Memorial Park cemetery, Amherst Township.
